R. B. High Tech Transport, Inc. has gone GREEN!
We are happy to report compliance with the new California Air Resources Board regulation: TRU ATCM or Transport Refrigeration Units Airborne Toxic Control Measure. Climate Units run on diesel fuel and diesel fuel emissions are proven to be extremely harmful, so the Federal Air Resources Board has granted California the approval required to enforce this new regulation. Enforcement begins July 17, 2009; six months after the Federal approval granted on January 16, 2009. By the Federal Air Resources Board granting this OK to California, it is a matter of time before more States follow California’s lead towards cleaner air. R.B. is one step ahead in total compliance towards cleaner air for our future and our children’s future. Check out the following link for info on the TRU ATCM.

High Profile Shipment from Vistec Lithography to UCLA
Vistec/UCLA R. B. High Tech was part of a high profile shipment in November 2008 with Fab Logistics from Vistec Lithography in Albany, NY to UCLA in Los Angeles. This was very significant because it's the first tool shipment that is "Made In USA". All the Vistec employees came out to watch the Main Unit being loaded on Climate Controlled Trailer RB018 with R. B. Owner/Operators Dave & Lynn Dohme. Vistec should be very proud of their accomplishment in regards to this first tool "Made In USA".

SEMI Acquires SEC/N to Better Address 200 mm/150 mm Fabs
To more effectively support the needs of members and customers in the 200 mm/150 mm fab market, SEMI has acquired SEC/N®, the Surplus Equipment Consortium Network. The global secondary market of used and refurbished semiconductor equipment will grow to over $8 billion in 2009. It will have a significant impact on manufacturers of semiconductor equipment, buyers of secondary equipment, and the global network of service, support and refurbishing companies that occupy this growing segment of the industry. SEC/N and SEMI have worked together closely for several years, sharing many common members and interests, and cooperating on seminars on the secondary market at many SEMI events. Approximately 60% of SEC/N’s current members are also SEMI members. “Because of the well established infrastructure at SEMI, we believe that the SEC/N vision to advance ethical business practices and to develop and promote standards for the secondary equipment market throughout the world is achievable,” said Peter Page, president, R.B. High Tech Transport, Inc. and the former president of SEC/N’s Board of Directors. “SEMI’s global resources make it possible to reach a larger audience with information and educational programs, thereby providing an enhanced opportunity for achieving our goals.” While new 300 mm fabs dominate the headlines, 200 mm fabs continue to play a prominent role in the world semiconductor market. In fact, 200 mm wafer capacity still exceeds 300 mm capacity in equivalent units (though 300 mm capacity is expected surpass worldwide 200 mm wafer by year’s end). While the number of 200 mm fabs has decreased from 212 to 193 from 2000 to 2007, total 200 mm capacity has increased 42% to 5.54 million wafers per month over the same period, indicating the significant productivity gains possible in older device geometries (SEMI World Fab Forecast). Many of these fabs continue to thrive because they have effectively adapted to new product strategies and incorporated new production solutions. 200 mm Fab Capacity by Region (Source: World Fab Forecast)

Prepraring Hiller-copter for transport In August of 2004, R.B. High Tech Transport, Inc. was selected to move a historic helicopter to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. The “Hiller-copter” or XH-44 was built in 1944 by Stanley Hiller, Jr. in Oakland, California. After retirement, Stanley Hiller suspended the XH-44 from the ceiling of his main production plant in Palo Alto, California. The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum acquired the XH-44 from Hiller in 1953 and then restored the helicopter in 1974. During 1997, the National Air and Space Museum lent the rotorcraft back to Stanley Hiller for display at the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos, California. The XH-44 has now been returned and is on exhibit at The Smithsonian.

Stephens Elementary School R.B. High Tech Transport driver/representative Will Kuhlman, teamed up with his son Travis' second grade class to share some of his experiences and help expand their knowledge of geography.

Will first sent a letter describing what we do and haul along with brochures to the class at Stephens Elementary in Bartow, FL. Then throughout the year he sent each student a post card from a different state, and even a few Canadian Provinces, which the class posted on a giant map to mark all the places Will had been. Many of these postcards were donated by the museums for which Will had transported fine art.

These cards included a brief description of what was being hauled and where Will was, along with something of interest for the kids about that area. At the end of the year Will brought his truck and trailer to the school for a very large "show and tell". The students, along with their teacher, were given a tour and the opportunity to sit in the drivers seat.

After answering questions, Will gave out activity atlas' and other handouts to take home. Opportunties like these are not only great fun for the kids, but gave Will the chance to combine learning with real life experiences while on the road that these students will take with them for a long time to come.
